Weekly Attendance EMails          May 6, 2008

To help parents deal with attendance for their child, we have started a new initiative to email concerned parents weekly attendance reports (in PDF format).  We started this a few months ago by offering weekly emails to parents that noticed their child was missing too much time and wanted to get good reports on what classes they were missing.  We have found that almost all parents that are now receiving these weekly emails have children with great attendance improvements.   There is a direct relationship between academic achievement and attendance.

These reports are sent each week (at the end of the week) and allows for follow up by an administrator on how to proceed.  Any parent that is noticing their child is missing time may ask to be added to this new initiative.

Click here to sign up (you will be asked for a phone number as well to confirm your identity).

Here is what parent's are saying about this:

  • "I would like to say having their attendance emailed to me each week is great. I like the phone call but the attendance record gives me a better idea as to the classes and periods that they are missing. I can then dig in their head to find out if something is going on or if they are just being defiant."
  • "I love this communication and find it most helpful as it has already improved my daughter's attendance because she knows I get a weekly report.  It's made a great difference."
  • "I highly recommend it to anyone that is questioning their child's attendance. It is a great report to have in front of you when discussing with the child the importance of attendance. I think all parents should be using it. I have already told my friends about it who plan on calling you to get set up."
  • "Being such a busy parent I relied on the attendance email to keep an eye on my daughter without having to ask too many questions.  I was able to be aware of changes and I liked knowing what I needed to know."
  • "I feel the attendance program has improved my sons look out on school a lot. Since being on it his marks have gone up and he usually has an excuse as to why he was not in class. I find his attitude and learning skills way better, he pays attention to what the teachers are saying and doing all his school assignments. I think he is actually enjoying his last few months in school. He comes home beaming when he brings a test or an assignment with good marks, which he has been doing since we put him on the attendance program. He said he wants to graduate and trying to keep his attendance up and his marks are the only way he is going to be able to achieve this goal. I can tell you this, don't stop this program it is a good thing for students who skip off when they should not be skipping off. My son is proof that if your being monitored you will try and stay on the straight and norrow and get to graduate in the end."
